About Le Ragnaie Rosso di Montalcino
“Ragnaie” is an Etruscan name that was used to describe the net used to catch birds in ancient times and this is the same name used by Riccardo Campinoti and his wife Jennifer for their wine project to connect it to the region’s history and traditions. A cultural and symbolic value that reflects the authenticity of wines that connect with the past. With a total of 28 hectares in Montalcino, in the province of Siena, in the southwest of Tuscany (Italy), a third of their vineyards are located in the Lume Spento pass, which is one of the highest points of the DOC Rosso di Montalcino, 600 metres above sea level.
This is where Le Ragnaie Rosso di Montalcino is born, a red wine produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes. Vines aged between 5 and 40 years old, grown following the principles of organic agriculture and harvested by hand when they reach optimum ripeness. In the winery, fermentation takes place in concrete tanks at a controlled temperature of 28°C for 28 days and then the wine is aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 13 months before bottling.
With meticulous attention to each and every stage of the winemaking process, Le Ragnaie Rosso di Montalcino embodies the magic of a time when nature and people were united in a passionate and mysterious embrace. A delightful journey through the most nostalgic Tuscany.
