About Le Ragnaie Casanovina Montosoli Brunello di Montalcino
The geographical diversity where the vineyards lie brings a unique richness to the wines. Essential characteristics like soil type, altitude and climate can dramatically change the performance of a single grape variety. Le Ragnaie, an estate covering 28 hectares in the municipality of Montalcino, in the province of Siena, enjoys three different terroirs. Their winemaker, Riccardo Campinoti, a promising young winemaker from this region of Tuscany (Italy), understands and appreciates the uniqueness of each terroir and adjusts his viticultural and winemaking practices to bring out the best of each area and create wines that reflect the authentic essence of Montalcino in every bottle.
Of the three distinct zones, Le Ragnaie lies in the central part of Montalcino and has the unique characteristic of having the highest vineyards of the entire area. This is where Le Ragnaie Casanovina Montosoli Brunello di Montalcino comes from, a single-variety wine made with the star Sangiovese variety that has been grown with organic certification since 2009 and coexists beautifully with olive trees and pastures. Lying at 600 metres above sea level, ripening happens late and the grapes are harvested by hand when they reach optimum ripeness. Vinification in the winery is traditional, with maceration and fermentation with native yeasts and 18 months aging in Slavonian oak barrels. Finally it is bottled and rests in the winery for 12 months before being released for sale.
Taking into account that each terroir gives the grapes a particular personality, reflected in the composition of flavours, aromas and structure of the wine, Le Ragnaie Casanovina Montosoli Brunello di Montalcino is one of Le Ragnaie’s outstanding products. An authentic Brunello di Montalcino that reflects the passion and dedication of winemaker Riccardo Campinoti to create excellent wines with their own identity.
