Château Dereszla Aszú Eszencia

2008

Sweet wine Aged in wood.
Château Dereszla Aszú Eszencia 2008 is a concentrated sweet wine. It is almost a nectar, with notes of peaches, apricots, oranges and honey. On the palate it is dense but with an acidity that brings freshness and balance. It has a long aftertaste and a subtle mineral finish.
About Château Dereszla Aszú Eszencia
Château Dereszla Aszú Eszencia is a sweet wine coupage of the Furmint and Hárslevelű varieties produced by Château Dereszla in the Tokaj-Hegyalja region, Hungary.
Château Dereszla Aszú Eszencia is made from grapes that come from 70-year-old vineyards and are harvested manually to carefully select each of the berries affected with noble rot. The precious free-run juice from these grapes ferments in glass containers. The resulting wine ages for three years in Hungarian oak barrels and finally refines in the bottle for approximately two years.
The Tokay or Tokaj region in Hungary has gained international fame and reputation thanks to its excellent wines made from Aszú berries, which in Hungarian means “dry”, referring to the grapes affected with Botrytis cinerea, a disease that attacks the clusters, dehydrating the grapes and increasing the sugar concentration.
The Aszú Eszencia wines are practically nectars. They are Tokaji wines made with a greater quantity of noble rot grapes. Wines that are considered the best in the world for their delicacy and elegance. They say that Tokaji wines were a favourite of King Louis XIV of France who called them “Vinum Regum, Rex Vinorum” (Wine of kings, king of wines).
