About Chapelle d’Ausone

Chapelle d'Ausone is a biodynamic red wine made with the Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties by Château d'Ausone in the prestigious AOC Saint-Émilion (France).
 
Château d'Ausone is a winery with a history strongly linked to the city of Saint Émilion. With vineyards that perfectly combine sun exposure with clay, limestone and sand soils, many think this is the best terroir in the region. If we add to this the wisdom of Alain Vauthier, the owner, and the experience of Pascal Delbeck, the winegrower, we find ourselves with a recipe for producing true works of art.   
 
Chapelle d'Ausone is made from the estate’s youngest vines. These vines have an average age of 50 years old and lie on the Saint Émilion limestone plateau. They are now cultivated by Alain's daughter, Pauline Vauthier, following the principles of biodynamic agriculture. The vine yields are limited and the harvest is carried out manually taking into account the lunar phases. 
 
Once the grape bunches have been selected, Chapelle d'Ausone macerates for 4-5 weeks and fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature. The wine then ages for a minimum of 18 months in 225-litre new French oak barrels.
 
Made through the richness of an exceptional terroir, the second Château Ausone wine is broad and powerful with a great aging potential. The expression of a unique Bordeaux terroir.
 
2023

Chapelle d’Ausone 2023 is a red wine that stands out for its intensity and nuanced spicy undertones. On the nose, it unfolds a spectrum of aromas dominated by dark fruits such as blackberries and plums, augmented by a subtle hint of black pepper. On the palate, it exhibits a robust structure and seamlessly integrated tannins, bestowing a velvety texture and a lingering finish. It is the perfect choice for connoisseurs who value wines with a distinctive personality and a rich, intricate aromatic profile.
2016

Chapelle d'Ausone 2016 is a concentrated red wine with an attractive garnet purple colour that gives off aromas of black raspberries, kirsch and plum jam with hints of lavender, tobacco and chocolate. On the palate it is pure, flavoursome and fantastically elegant. A wine with delicious layers of fruit framed by fine tannins and a beautiful freshness. The finish is lingering and mineral.

Chapelle d'Ausone 2012 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of plums, blueberries and raspberries combined with notes of powdered chalk and hints of spring flowers. On the palate it is rich, broad and expansive. A wonderfully pure medium to full bodied wine that can be enjoyed any time in the next 20-25 years. 
 
2011

Chapelle d'Ausone 2011 is a beautifully concentrated red wine with abundant aromas of black and blue fruits interspersed with floral components and mineral touches. On the palate it is intense, rich and opulent, but never overwhelming. A medium-bodied wine with fine tannins, bright acidity and a sensual and persistent finish. Will keep well in the bottle for 15 years or more.

Chapelle d'Ausone 2009 is a concentrated red wine that reveals fruity aromas of blueberries and raspberries, notes of incense and mineral hints of crushed stones. On the palate it is pure, broad and opulent. A complete medium-bodied wine with silky tannins and bright acidity. This wine will develop well in the bottle for two decades or more.
