About Chafandín
Chafandín is a red wine from the appellation of origin (D.O) Ribera del Duero produced by the winery Viñas del Jaro. This winery belongs to the group Compañía de Viñedos Iberian and was the first winery established by the family Osborne-Osborne.
Chafandín is a monovarietal of Tempranillo. The grapes originate from old vines about 40 years old from Pago de Chafandín.
The wine is fermented for 12 days at a temperature of 26ºC, after the maceration process of 17 days with its husks.
After this process, the malolactic maceration process is conducted in the new wooden French barrels (300L capacity), subsequently, is aged in the same barrels for an additional 21 months.
2012 | Elegant and balanced. Creamy and polished with good acidity and well integrated tannins. The aged notes harmonise beautifully with the fruit. Long finish. Full bodied cherry red. Clean and bright. Great aromatic intensity with presence of ripened red fruit combined with fine toasted notes. Mineral base. |
|
2010 | Very broad on the palate, with prominent fruity notes and a great mid palate. A persistent finish. Very intense, ripe dark fruit aromas with mineral and fine wood notes. |
|
2009 | Upon tasting, this wine exhibits an expansive palate, replete with a substantial fruit presence and extensive depth. It culminates in a finish characterized by a lingering aftertaste. It features profoundly intense aromas of ripe dark fruit, complemented by mineral nuances and the subtle influence of select timber. |
