About Jordan Inspector Peringuey Chenin Blanc
Jordan Inspector Péringuey Chenin Blanc is a single-variety Chenin Blanc white wine produced by the Jordan Wine Estate winery in the Stellenbosch region, South Africa.
The Jordan Inspector Péringuey Chenin Blanc white wine is named after Louis Albert Péringuey, who was inspector general of Cape vineyards in the 19th century. Peringuey was the one who led the fight against phylloxera and was aware of the rootstock being imported from the United States.
After the harvest, the clusters used to make the Jordan Inspector Péringuey Chenin Blanc wine are taken to the winery and are soft pressed and cold stabilised for two days. The must is fermented in fourth-use 228-litre Burgundy barrels. The resulting wine ages for seven months under its fine lees and with regular “barrel rolling” to add richness to the palate.
The wine is a mix of 42% Chenin Blanc fermented in stainless steel tanks and the rest, which ferments in a barrel to bring out its citrus freshness.
The couple Gary and Kathy Jordan have been producing high quality wines since 1993 and have undertaken an extensive replanting programme with classic varieties. At the Jordan Wine Estate, natural qualities are combined with innovative vineyard management with the aim of expressing the perfect synergy between soul and land through its wines.

2018 | Jordan Inspector Péringuey Chenin Blanc 2018 is an aromatic white wine that offers touches of white pears, quince and green pineapple accompanied by a spicy hue. On the palate it is broad and creamy, where the fruit from the nose reappears with the balanced elegance it gains from aging in the barrel. A persistent and flavoursome wine. |
