About Edetària La Pedrissa
In Terra Alta, the soil is not merely a support; it is a storyteller narrating tales of crunchy limestone, Mediterranean breezes, and shimmering light. Joan Àngel Lliberia understood this from childhood and made it his banner when he founded Edetària in 2003. A winery that vinifies plot by plot so that each type of soil—tapàs blanc, panal, or red clay—speaks with its own distinct accent.
Located in Gandesa, Edetària cultivates 60 hectares organically where diversity prevails. From the outset, Lliberia eschewed universal formulas—commercial yeasts, dominant wood—and embraced micro-vinification. Thus, each section of vineyard ferments separately and matures according to its needs, with the aim of placing the taster directly in Terra Alta.
For Edetària La Pedrissa, the winery selects 40-year-old garnacha peluda vines rooted in tapàs blanc, the renowned compact limestone that acts as a thermal carpet: absorbing daytime heat and releasing it at night, promoting a slow maturation. The manual harvest is conducted with an unusually meticulous selection. Then, in the winery, fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, and subsequently, the wine is aged in stoneware amphorae for 12 months to allow micro-oxygenation and preserve the fruit’s integrity.
The result is Edetària La Pedrissa, an honest, vibrant, and profoundly territorial wine that does not hide its roots—literally stony—and transforms the old soundtrack of the stone into a liquid delight.
