About Château Pesquié Silica Rouge
Silicon is a natural element that can be found in sandstone, clay and granite and is plentiful in the earth’s crust. Recently, it has been classified as a “quasi-essential” or beneficial element for agriculture, and it has a key part to play in biodynamic treatments because of the significant benefits it has on crops. As a tribute to these benefits, the Château Pesquié family winery in the Ventoux region of France has named one of its wines made from a single vineyard with an abundance of silicon Château Pesquié Silica Rouge. The reason is obvious and the results are brilliant.
This family winery was set up in 1970 by the grandparents of the current owners, brothers Frédéric and Alexandre Chaudière, and Château Pesquié has quickly become one of the most important domaines in the denomination and in the southern Rhône. Château Pesquié Silica Rouge is made from the Grenache and Cinsault red varieties planted on sandy soil with limestone gravel and silica. The vines have been organically cultivated using biodynamic treatments since 2015. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested by hand and macerated in the winery for just under 4 weeks with a particularly gentle infusion. Vinification is carried out in a selection of 600 L barrels (75%) and cement eggs (25%) with native yeasts and the wine is aged for 15 months before bottling.
Like their two other wines, Artemia and Ascensio, Château Pesquié Silica Rouge is made from a single vineyard whose unique terroir makes it possible to extract an exceptional cuvée full of liveliness, finesse and elegance. An essential of the AOC Ventoux.

Château Pesquié Silica Rouge 2021 is a vibrant red wine. On the nose, it stands out for its aromas that are as delicate as they are intense, with emerging floral notes and fresh red berries. Upon tasting, its juicy character is evident, with crisp berry flavours accompanied by hints reminiscent of kirsch and white pepper. A brilliant red wine with silky tannins and great finesse.
