About Château Pesquié Artemia Rouge
Artemia is a predominantly feminine name of Greek origin that refers to the Greek goddess Artemis, deity of hunting, wild animals and virginity. However, it is also translated as ‘healthy’ or ‘fullness.’ It is with this in mind that the family winery Chateau Pesquié launches Château Pesquié Artemia Rouge, a red wine made from the most representative red varieties of the Rhône Valley: syrah and grenache in their fullest state. Its current creators, Frédéric and Alexandre Chaudière, have taken over from their parents and grandparents and continue to show the world the bounties of the Ventoux AOC, in the southeastern Rhône region of France.
Thus, since 2003, the two brothers have been working with the same motivation and enthusiasm as their predecessors in the fantastic vineyards located between the Mediterranean and the Alps, which enjoy an exceptional microclimate. The winegrowing system is organic, with biodynamic treatments that guarantee the preservation of the environment. In the case of Château Pesquié Artemia Rouge, its flagship wine, the grenache comes from old vines located at about 280 metres on a very stony clay-limestone gravel soil and the syrah is located at about 340 metres on a very old alluvial soil. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness, with a very strict selection of berries and total destemming. Vinification is carried out with a slow maceration that can take up to a month and fermentation is with native yeasts in wooden barrels. The wine is then aged for 15 months in a selection of very fine-grained Bordeaux barrels and cement tanks.
Whole, pure and balanced, Château Pesquié Artemia Rouge represents the perfect harmony between grenache and syrah. Undoubtedly, the fullness of the two queen varieties of the Rhône Valley has been achieved.

Château Pesquié Artemia Rouge 2020 is a red wine that on the nose offers aromas of fresh blackberries accompanied by subtle floral notes reminiscent of violets, spices, and liquorice. On the palate, it presents a fresh and velvety texture; the presence of violet flowers is reaffirmed, and strawberries and raspberries emerge. A very balanced and subtle red wine, with a long and slightly spicy finish.

2019 | Château Pesquié Artemia Rouge 2019 is a richly concentrated purple-hued red wine, unveiling an aromatic bouquet dominated by violet, spices, licorice, blackberry, and plum. On the palate, it is velvety, vibrant, and well-balanced with robust tannins. It is exquisitely subtle, with unexpected notes of strawberry and raspberry, while the violet persists. The finish is extensive and delicately spicy. |
