About Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque

If there is anyone who epitomises the French Art Nouveau movement, it is undoubtedly Émile Gallé. This artist, a master of glass and botany, had the rare ability to capture the fleeting beauty of nature with unparalleled sensitivity. As an example, in 1902, Gallé crafted a bouquet of white Japanese anemones, adorned with delicate golden arabesques, for the maison Perrier-Jouët. This creation was a tribute to the refined aesthetics, lightness, and love of nature that defined the dazzling Belle Époque era. Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque is this iconic bottle, which has, over the years, become the emblem of the house's prestige cuvée.

From the historic town of Épernay, in the heart of the AOC Champagne, Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque is crafted using some of the finest vineyards in the region. The grapes are sourced from selected plots classified as Grand Cru in legendary locations such as Cramant and Avize for the chardonnay, and Mailly or Verzy for the pinot noir. The vines thrive on deep, porous limestone soils that act as a natural sponge, absorbing water during rainy periods and providing the roots with a constant supply of minerals and moisture. The climate is temperate, with both oceanic and continental influences, where coolness and moderate humidity temper the temperatures. This vintage's blend combines chardonnay, pinot noir, and meunier, cultivated with utmost precision and respect for biodiversity, with grapes harvested by hand.

For the production of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque, the maison adheres to a meticulous process. Once the grapes are handpicked at their optimal ripeness, the musts are obtained through gentle pressing. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. This is followed by malolactic fermentation, a natural biological transformation that converts malic acid into lactic acid, imparting smoothness, stability, and a silkier texture to the base wine. After the blending of the different base wines, the champagne is bottled and undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle. Finally, it matures for over 6 years on fine lees in the dim light of the historic chalk cellars of Perrier-Jouët before disgorgement and final dosage.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque is a luminous champagne, silky and of breathtaking elegance. A toast to indulge in the timeless sophistication of the Belle Époque.
