About Louis Roederer Collection
In a world where wineries are regularly bought by large groups, Louis Roederer remains one of the few independent, family-run maisons in the AOC Champagne. Two centuries of relentlessly pursuing excellence. Right from the very beginning. Louis Roederer set out to have full control of every stage of the winemaking process, from the vineyard to bottling, which was unusual in the nineteenth century. He built on these expertise year after year and now, run by the seventh generation of the Frédéric Rouzaud family, this winery has managed to maintain the aura of subtlety and elegance that is clear to see in every one of its champagnes.
One of the house’s most representative champagnes is Louis Roederer Collection 244. A sparkling wine made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier vines planted in poor, chalky soils. The grapes are harvested following the principles of respectful agriculture and only the must from the first pressing and up to 36% of reserve wine aged in large oak vats is used to make this wine. It then spends about 54 months in the bottle before being disgorged.
This is a classic champagne. As described by the head of the Louis Roederer winery, Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, “The freshness, finesse and joy of Brut Premier are an invitation to party. Its structure, richness and persistence are decidedly vinous. It is complete, complex, modern and powerful at the same time, while remaining a great classic.” Just pour yourself a glass and you will see for yourself.
244 | Louis Roederer Collection 244 is a champagne comprised of 54% from the record-breaking warm 2019 harvest, yielding wines of both density and freshness with exceptional ripeness. Louis Roederer Collection 244 heralds the return of the meunier variety from Marne et de Montagne, lending a luscious sensation to the pinot noir wines and the saline, well-structured chardonnays. A distinguished champagne with a broad bouquet of ripe fruits and zesty citrus, velvety and robust, culminating in a crisp and savory finish, mellow and fruity. |

243 |
Louis Roederer Collection 243 is a mature sparkling wine with aromas of fresh apple, notes of red fruits and hints of almonds and pastries. On the palate it is complex, vinous and elegant. A champagne with fine bubbles, a well-balanced structure and a fruity, toasted finish. |
