Wittmann Riesling Trocken is a biodynamic white wine made with the Riesling variety by Weingut Wittmann in the VDP Rheinhessen, Germany.
Wittmann is a family winery that has been producing wines in the village of Westhofen in the southernmost part of the Rheinhessen region since 1663. A great tradition that has led them to become a leading producer of dry white wines with body, tension and elegance.
Wittmann Riesling Trocken comes from vineyards located in the limestone hills just west of the Rhine Valley. These vines are planted in loess, limestone and marl soils, with subsoils of clayey sand or gravel. They have been cultivated using organic agriculture since 1990 and biodynamic agriculture since 2004.
Once the grapes have been meticulously selected in the winery, Wittmann Riesling Trocken is gently pressed and the resulting must is vinified with native yeasts in large used wooden barrels.
Philipp Wittmann is recognised as one of the best German winemakers thanks to the mastery he shows through his dry Rieslings. This is the case with Wittmann Riesling Trocken, a lightly full-bodied and very mineral wine with very marked acidity.
Wittmann Riesling Trocken 2020 is an aromatic white wine with intense aromas of yellow fruit, hints of green fruit and seductive chalky touches. On the palate it is juicy, fresh and well structured. A dry wine with fruity acidity, delicious mineral touches and a long finish that will leave you wanting more.
