La Rioja Alta's Galician venture

In 1998, La Rioja Alta S.A. made an unusual decision for a Rioja winery: to traverse the peninsula in search of a new venture. The destination was Rías Baixas, where they discovered that a great albariño could only originate from exceptional land. Thus began the story of Lagar de Fornelos, a winery that has flourished by respecting the landscape, tradition, and the Atlantic character of Galicia. What started with merely five hectares of vineyard has now become one of the largest estates in Rías Baixas, with over 100 hectares of its own vineyards between O Rosal and O Salnés. A project meticulously built, plot by plot, where the first grapes of the Galician harvest give life to fresh, expressive albariños brimming with personality.
