Vermut de Capçanes

Details
Tasting notes Vermut de Capçanes
Vermouth.
Capçanes Vermouth boasts a mahogany hue, with a rich and expansive body. Olfactorily, it reveals a tapestry of scents, with willow blossom and sage at the forefront, complemented by toasted nuances, alpine herbs, caramel, and dried fruits. Its delightful palate is the outcome of an exquisite harmony between bitterness and sweetness.
About Vermut de Capçanes
Celler de Capçanes crafts this vermouth, originating from wines that embody the full character of Montsant.
Located in Capçanes, a village to the south of Priorat, this winery was established by five families in 1933. After more than half a century of diligent work, the decision was made to open up shares to an additional 80 individuals who began investing to ensure the winery's expansion and success. At that time, the winery also started producing kosher wine following the Lo Mevushal method, creations that have garnered significant international acclaim.
The Vermut de Capçanes is produced from white wine varieties Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo, infused with herbs and botanicals such as willow flower and sage. The maceration is fortified with sugar (containing 100 g/l) and alcohol before aging in French oak barrels, which is carried out using the solera method, resulting in an average aging period exceeding 24 months.
This vermouth is perfect for accompanying a wide array of appetizers such as olives, potato chips, or nuts. It also astonishes as an excellent complement to desserts like cheesecake, nougat, or Crema Catalana, with which it pairs with delightful expertise.
Due to its flavor and quality, Vermut de Capçanes has earned various awards and distinctions, and rightfully so! Oenologist Anna Rovira continuously receives accolades for her work, the most recent being named “Best Viticulturist of 2021,” an honor bestowed by the German magazine "Selection Das Genussmagazin".
