Vermouth Yzaguirre Blanco Reserva

Tasting notes Vermouth Yzaguirre Blanco Reserva 1 Liter
Vermouth.
About Vermouth Yzaguirre Blanco Reserva
The name Sort del Castell may not sound familiar, but if we say Yzaguirre we’re pretty sure that your mind will travel to happy moments shared with friends or family at aperitif time, at least in Spain. This winery has become more famous for the products it produces, such as its vermouth and sweet wines, than for its original name. Today Celler Sort del Castell is better known as Yzaguirre and is synonymous with vermouth.
The winery was founded in the city of Reus in 1884 by Enrique de Yzaguirre, a Basque man who developed his winemaking career in Catalonia and created a recipe which is still used today for making vermouth. Yzaguirre was bought in 1930 by the Simó family and in 1970 it passed into the hands of the Salla family. The secret of its success lies in its recipe: selected wines which are macerated with about 80 aromatic herbs and other botanicals and are made following the secret formula that made its creator Enrique de Yzaguirre famous.
Yzaguirre Blanco Reserva is a vermouth made in an artisan way with a base wine of the Macabeo variety and with the perfect mixture of herbs, spices and time of maturation in cask to obtain an aromatic vermouth, with a velvety texture and less acid than the vermouth Yzaguirre Blanco Clásico. Yzaguirre Blanco Reserva is dominated by the presence of herbs and balsamic spices accompanied by a subtle note of wood from its 12 months’ ageing. A vermouth with a piquant touch of spice which helps avoid excess sweetness and is ideal to be enjoyed both as an aperitif or as an afternoon or evening drink, served with ice cubes and accompanied by a slice of lemon and a mint leaf.
Yzaguirre Blanco Reserva is a vermouth which on the nose offers sweet notes reminiscent of fruits such as apricot or peach accompanied by citrus nuances of lemon, grapefruit and orange peel and aromas of Mediterranean spices such as thyme or sage. Its passage through the mouth is velvety. A flavor reminiscent of orange peel appears and is rounded off with spiced and subtly piquant nuances which help avoid the sensation of excessive sweetness.
