About Valserrano Crianza
Valserrano Crianza is a red wine from the Rioja prepared by Viñedos y Bodegas de la Marquesa, a winery that was established during the second half of the nineteenth century by D. Francisco Javier Solano y Eulate, owner of a large expanse of vineyards in Villabuena. Currently, the winery is run by its fourth and fifth generation.
The climate in Rioja Alavesa is Mediterranean with a strong influence from the Cantabrian Sea. The temperatures are softened by the Sierra de Cantabria, which acts as a natural barrier against the cold north winds. This wine is a blend of Tempranillo (90%) and Mazuelo (10%) from 65 hectares of family vineyards with vines with an average age of 25 years. As for processing, after a cold maceration, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Each variety is vinified separately. Finally, Valserrano Crianza spends 18 months in barrels of American and French oak.
