Valdespino Amontillado Coliseo VORS is a fortified wine made by the Valdespino winery in the D.O. Jerez-Xérèz-Sherry with the Palomino variety.
Valdespino, one of the oldest wineries in the Marco de Jerez, is characterised by the traditional production of fortified wines. It dates back to 1875, with the Estevez Family taking over in 1985.
All Valdespino Amontillado Coliseo VORS grapes come from the Macharnudo Alto plot, a privileged area of Jerez Superior. With characteristic white albariza land, limestone soil with a clayey texture and high calcium carbonate content, the Palomino native variety does extremely well.
In the winery, Valdespino Amontillado Coliseo VORS ages under a yeast cap, a floating layer that develops on the surface. Once the cap disappears, the wine is exposed to oxidation. An average aging of at least 30 years in total.
Valdespino Amontillado Coliseo VORS is the oldest amontillado that the Valdespino winery sells and one that has achieved 99 Parker points.
