About Familia Torres Reserva Real
Familia Torres Reserva Real is a distinguished red wine from the D.O. Penedès crafted by Familia Torres.
In 1995, King Juan Carlos I graced the cellars of this esteemed family on the occasion of their 125th anniversary. He was presented with the opportunity to sample an exclusive red wine, originating from a modest vineyard in Santa Margarida d'Agulladolç. The sovereign was thoroughly impressed by the wine, and thus, from 1997 onwards, Familia Torres decided to market it in commemoration of that regal visit and tasting.
Familia Torres Reserva Real is a blend of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot grapes from the Santa Margarida d'Agulladolç estate in the D.O. Penedès, featuring slate soils and limited production.
Familia Torres Reserva Real undergoes an 18-month maturation process in new fine-grain French oak barrels sourced from Nevers, France.
2019 | Familia Torres Reserva Real 2019 unfurls a spectrum of aromas with black plums and blackberries taking center stage, interwoven with hints of spices such as clove and a backdrop of smooth tobacco. On the palate, its spiced character and a texture that, while not overly dense, commands attention. Nuances of roasted meat and Mediterranean herbs enhance the ripe fruit, while shades of graphite and dried flowers contribute to its complexity. A red wine that exudes maturity and sophistication with every sip. |

2010 | On the palate it is powerful, fleshy and concentrated. Sweet tannins and well structured. There appear to be ripe fruit notes like prunes or raisins. You can see the oak aging with the cocoa and leather notes. Slight minerality from the slate. Persistent finish. Red mahogany color that is very dense. Brown nuances that are gained from aging in the barrel. On the nose it is intense and complex with fruit notes of blackberry and raspberry jam. There are some roasted notes and smoky hints from the oak aging. |
