The Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Oak is a dark golden (natural colour) Scotch whisky with a nose of dried fruit aromas accompanied by hints of vanilla. Smooth and well-balanced on the palate. Fruit flavours appear accompanied by notes of oak and spice. A silky and complex whisky, with a long, warm finish of sweet dried fruits, wood, nutmeg and ginger.

About The Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Oak Scotch Whisky

Although Macallan is not a surname, we all associate this name with quality whisky. It is actually a word made up of the terms “Magh” and “Ellan”. The first of these means “fertile land” in the Gaelic language and the second refers to “St. Fillan”, a saint recognised in Scottish history and religious tradition. Officially founded in 1824 in the Speyside region of Scotland by farmer and professor Alexander Reid, the distillery has focussed on quality craftsmanship since its very beginning. At that time distilleries in England were facing increasing taxes and many of them were forced to operate underground or produce lower quality whiskies to avoid taxation. However, The Macallan always maintained such high standards in the production of its whisky that it even attracted the attention of King George IV himself.

Top quality barley, the combination of exclusive barrels and small stills are responsible for a collection of unique spirits that are loved around the world. Sherry Oak is a range of pure malt whiskies aged in exceptional Jerez oak casks.
