The legacy of Tequila José Cuervo began in 1795, when Don José María Guadalupe de Cuervo y Montaño obtained the first license to produce tequila, marking the start of a tradition that has endured for over two centuries.
 
In 1812, the distillery "La Rojeña" began establishing itself as the oldest in the Americas. Since then, José Cuervo has witnessed milestones such as the creation of the Denomination of Origin for tequila in 1974 and the inclusion of the Agave Landscape in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2006.
