About Recanati Petit Syrah Reserva

Lenny Recanati and Uri Shaked harbored a dream: to craft premium wines in Israel and establish their winery as a paragon of excellence. Hence, Recanati Winery was conceived.

This vision materialized in the year 2000. Today, nearly two decades later, they have achieved their goal, joining a cadre of boutique producers—headed by the esteemed Golan Heights Winery—dedicated to the modernization of viticulture in Israel. Now, at the forefront of innovation without forsaking experimentation, Recanati Winery creates wines that embody the unique terroir of Israel, such as Recanati Petit Syrah Reserve, a red wine crafted in Galilee, in the north of Israel. It is the result of a harmonious blend of Mediterranean varietals (including Syrah, Marselan, and Carignan) with the region's climate, adjacent to the Sea of Galilee, where the water bodies exert a cooling influence over the four vineyards owned by the winery, located at altitudes ranging from 150-800 meters. Lastly, the red earth soils, interspersed with limestone, clay, and heavy soil of the valley, further imbue these wines with distinctive character, each vinified separately according to its specific parcel.

The grapes for Recanati Petit Syrah Reserve are destemmed and gently crushed. From there, they are transferred by gravity (without the use of pumps) into dolavs, plastic containers that are well-suited for fermentation. Following the yeasts' diligent work, Recanati Petit Syrah Reserve will be refined during a year of aging in French oak barrels (25% of which are new) before bottling, without fining (merely a coarse filtration).
