About Ramos Pinto Late Bottled Vintage
Ramos Pinto Late Bottled Vintage is a fortified port wine coupage made with the region’s native varieties Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca, by the Casa Ramos Pinto in Porto, Portugal.
When a port wine is labelled Late Bottled Vintage (LBV), it means that it is a fortified wine made with only the vintage indicated on the bottle and having been aged for 4 to 6 years in oak barrels before being bottled.
Ramos Pinto Late Bottled Vintage comes from a single harvest and, unlike his brother, Vintage, which spends 2 years in the barrel, it ages for four years which makes it smoother, as well as more developed and easy to drink.
Ramos Pinto Late Bottled Vintage is still made using the ancient lagares, a kind of stone bucket where the harvested grapes are put for the traditional treading, which releases the must in a more efficient and gentle manner.
Ramos Pinto Late Bottled Vintage is bottled unfiltered. Once the bottle is opened, its intensity can last 15 to 30 days. This fortified wine can be enjoyed straight away or stored away carefully because over time it will generate complexity.
2013 | Ramos Pinto Late Bottled Vintage is a fortified port wine with a powerful nose of ripe fruits, like plums and chocolate, and spicy pepper notes. On the palate it is powerful and seductive with a broad mid-palate and round, elegant tannins. It is complete and balanced. |
