About Quinta Do Crasto Tinto

Quinta Do Crasto Tinto is a red wine coupage of the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca varieties, produced by the Quinta Do Crasto winery in the Douro Valley, Portugal.

Quinta Do Crasto Tinto is made from grapes from selected plots located in “patamares”, the traditional Douro Valley terraces. Following the harvest, they are taken to the winery in 22 kg boxes and go through a rigorous selection process to then be destemmed and pressed. The must obtained ferments in stainless steel tanks for seven days at a controlled temperature. The resulting wine is aged for about six months: 85% in stainless steel tanks and the rest in 225-litre French oak barrels.

Quinta Do Crasto is a winery dating back more than a century, and owned by the family of Leonor and Jorge Roquette. The name comes from the Latin “castrum” which means “Roman fortress”. The Roquette are the fourth generation of the family and they don’t just make still wines, they also produce fortified Port wines and extra virgin olive oil from their 130 hectares of land lying at almost 600 metres of altitude and forming part of the extraordinary Douro Valley landscape.
2017 Quinta Do Crasto Tinto is a red wine with an aromatic intensity that presents violet floral notes and wild fruit aromas. It has a pleasant entrance on the palate that evolves to well integrated tannins, volume and structure. This is a fresh wine with a persistent finish.
