About Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino
In 1996, after a lifetime of work, Roberto Bellini sold his stake in Pieve di Santa Restituta to Angelo Gaja, but not before saving (in his opinion) the best hectares for his brand new project: Podere Brizio. A quick renovation of the winery, a finishing touch here and there, and everything was ready to start a new phase at Brunello di Montalcino DOCG (in central Italy) starring wines of the very highest quality, where the well-known reds from this area of Tuscany stood out. Here, just southwest of Montalcino, Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino is produced.
In particular, this area, between 300 and 350 meters above sea level, is one of the warmest, which translates into the incredibly favorable ripening of Sangiovese. This native variety has no problems here, as the sandstone and rocky loam soils provide minerality and structure. Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino is vinified in a natural, artisanal manner, making use of native fermentations (which last about two weeks) and the long and prolonged aging so characteristic of these wines. In total, Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino spends 38 months in French oak barrels and a further six months in the bottle.
With this rich and fascinating history, Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino is surely one of the most interesting and special wines you can taste. Long live Tuscany and long live Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino!
