About Planetes de Nin Carinyena Blanca Reserva

Planetes de Nin Carinyena Blanca Reserva is a biodynamic, barrel-aged white wine made by Ester Nin in the D.O.Q. Priorat with the Cariñena Blanca variety.

Ester Nin is a winemaker who, having gained experience at Clos Erasmus, decided to set up her own project together with farmer Carles Ortiz. This is how Nin Ortiz, a biodynamic winery in Priorat (Tarragona) was born in 2008. Completely dedicated to their lands and wines, they belong to the select group “La renaissance des appelations” and are considered ambassadors of the biodynamic movement in Spain.

Planetes de Nin Carinyena Blanca Reserva comes from centuries-old vineyards discovered in the middle of a hectare of Cariñena Tinta. These are unusual strains lying 350 metres above sea level and cultivated according to biodynamic principles. The harvest is always manual and takes place first thing in the morning. The grapes are then left to cool for 48 hours.

In the winery, the Planetes de Nin Carinyena Blanca Reserva grapes macerate with the skins and stems for 2 days. They are then gently pressed and the resulting must ferments with native yeasts in 300-litre French oak barrels, where it remains for 7 months.

Made with a very unusual variety, Planetes de Nin Carinyena Blanca Reserva is a good way of getting to know the Cariñena Blanca variety with a Priorat style.

2017 Planetes de Nin Carinyena Blanca Reserva 2017 is a white wine with aromas of white and yellow fruits and white flowers. On the palate it is light, fine and fresh. It reveals a very special rusticity that makes it unique. A very limited production.
