About Planeta La Segreta Rosso

Planeta La Segreta Rosso is a red wine that is a coupage of the Nero d'Avola, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc varieties, produced by the Planeta winery, in Menfi, Sicily.

Planet La Segreta Rosso, which takes its name from the forests surrounding the vineyards, is a young and fresh wine made from the Nero d'Avola grape, the flagship variety of Sicilian wine. This and the other varieties that make it up come from the Dispensa, Buonivini, Maroccoli, and Gurra vineyards, whose plots are located between 75 and 415 metres above sea level and are composed of a variety of soils, particularly limestone and clays.

After the harvest, the grapes used to make Planeta La Segreta Rosso are pressed and macerated with their skins for approximately two weeks at a temperature of 25ºC; later the must is de-vatted and racked to finish the fermentation in the cleanest way possible. Lastly, the resulting wine is rounded by ageing in stainless steel tanks, where it remains until it is bottled.

The Planeta family has made an intense effort to improve and project the reputation of Sicilian wines. It is currently the main wine producer in Sicily. It has vineyards in different locations around the island in order to cultivate native and foreign varieties depending on the terroir that best allows them to express their varietal qualities.

Planet La Segreta Rosso is a young wine with a fresh and very versatile spirit. A good start for anyone wishing to delve further into the region’s red wines.
