About Pinord Chateldon Reserva
Pinord Chateldon Reserva is a red wine from the Penedes prepared by Pinord, a family winery founded in 1942 in Vilafranca del Penedes, near the railway station. From there, wines are sent to the rest of Spain, the station facilitating this. It is a wine cellar of long journeys that is reflected in each of their wines.
The climate in the Penedès is Mediterranean, i.e. warm and soft. It is characterized by record long hot summers and cold, dry winters. This wine is a varietal Cabernet Sauvignon, from the Pinord estate located in the Montanyans under the Penedés. The vineyards are planted on deep, sandy, clay, permeable soils that retain rainwater. They are poor in organic matter, calcareous and infertile. As for processing, after the harvest of the grapes at their optimum ripeness, maceration is performed before fermentation and gentle pressing, trying not to remove tastes and herbaceous aromas. Finally, this wine spends 14 months in oak barrels to achieve the roundness of tannin concentration and stability of wine. After bottling, the wine bottle is left to stand in the wine cellar.
2019 | Pinord Chateldon Reserva 2019 captivates with its aromatic intensity, featuring prominent raisin and red fruit jam nuances, beautifully enhanced by a subtle hint of oak. Upon aeration, it unveils layers of clove and pepper, adding to its complexity. On the palate, this red wine is smooth and well-balanced, with flavors mirroring its meticulous maturation. Its journey across the palate is harmonious, culminating in a prolonged and fulfilling finish that lingers, imparting a sense of opulence and richness. |
2009 | Velvety, it exhibits pronounced hints of its maturation in oak barrels. Full-bodied with an enduring finish. Garnet with purplish hues. Clear and sparkling. Intense oak notes accompanied by nuances of suede and jam. An appealing backdrop of varietal touches and spicy undertones. |
2008 | In the mouth it is smooth, with notes of wood from aging. Long aftertaste and a ripe body. Garnet colour with purple hues. Clean and bright. On the nose, intense aromas are presented: raisins and jams accompanied by notes of oak. You can also appreciate the unique varietal flavour and aromas of cloves and peppers. |
2006 | The tasting repport of this wine is being translated. Meanwhile, you can check the Spanish version. |
2004 | Wine with good entry. Tasty and velvety. Returns the ripe fruit and pepper from the nose. Have a nice and kind way through, easy to drink. Intense cherry color with a garnet rim, clean and bright. Fine tear. Intense aromas of ripe red fruit (almost jam) with elegant notes of toasted, given by the wood. |
2003 | A gentle palate with moderate ageing. The ageing tastes stand out in good balance with the body of the wine and its notes of preserved fruit and raisins. Deep red in colour with violet undertones; clear and brilliant. Intense aromas of raisins and jams with slight traces of oak. If you swirl the glass round, more varietal aromas and spicy notes will appear. |
