Pierre Frick Pinot Gris Macération Alsace Grand Cru Vorbourg

Known as one of the pioneers of biodynamics in Alsace, Pierre Frick has been working on his 12 hectares of family vineyards under Demeter certification since 1981. A sort of mosaic of local soils where, by using biodynamic preparations, the vine grows with total respect for its environment and contributes more to the soil than it extracts from it. A philosophy that led him to produce his wines naturally without sulphur in 1999. As he explains, “We don’t make wines, we allow them to develop their own lively, healthy and authentic character”.

Something that is perfectly reflected in Pierre Frick Pinot Gris Macération Alsace Grand Cru Vorbourg, a Pinot Gris produced in a Grand Cru of limestone and loamy soils in the AOC Alsace, using vines cultivated without chemicals or ploughing tools that could damage the original structure of the soil. The grapes are harvested by hand taking into account the lunar cycles and once they reach the winery, the crushed grapes ferment spontaneously with native yeasts and macerate with the skins for 7 days. The wine is then aged for a few months in wood. Finally, this orange wine is bottled without filtration, clarification or adding sulphites.

The result is Pierre Frick Pinot Gris Macération Alsace Grand Cru Vorbourg a 100% organic orange wine with no added sulphites, which, in order to preserve its purity, protect it from all organoleptic deviations and ensure uniform maturation, is sold with a stainless steel stopper instead of a cork. Pure Alsace expression!
