Pétalos del Bierzo 2022 is a fruity red wine. On the nose, it reveals aromas of fresh red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, accompanied by floral notes of violets and a hint of graphite. On the palate, its vibrant acidity is balanced by a smooth and velvety texture. The finish is long, with a subtle bitterness and hints of aromatic herbs. About Pétalos del Bierzo

Pétalos del Bierzo is a red wine from the Bierzo prepared by the Descendientes de J. Palacios winery. It is a single variety of Mencía.

The grapes used comes from plots of very old vines, aged between 50 and 90 years old. These are underperforming, making the fruit of high quality. The vineyards that give rise to Pétalos del Bierzo are planted mainly on slate floors and are located on slopes. The harvest is done manually and the first selection occurs in the same vineyard.

In the winery, the grapes are destemmed and fermented for about 25 days in open wooden vats and open stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is carried out for two months in closed wooden vats and open stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, Pétalos del Bierzo is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels before bottling, it is filtered and clarified.

This wine is notably prestigious as the 2011 vintage of Pétalos del Bierzo was recognized as the best value Spanish wine of the year by Robert Parker.

Descendientes de J. Palacios is owned by Ricardo Perez Palacios, the nephew of renowned winemaker Alvaro Palacios, who is known for his great work in the Priorat and assists the family winery.

2022

Pétalos del Bierzo 2021 envelops us with its refreshing spectrum of red fruits. On the nose, strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries unfurl, interwoven with delicate hints of black pepper and spices. Upon tasting, it reveals a vibrant and zesty character, with the strawberry notes pirouetting on the palate in a plump and succulent manner. This red wine is immediately delightful, notable for its smoothness and effortless drinkability.
2020

Pétalos del Bierzo 2020 is an aromatic and smooth red wine that transports us right to the fields of the Villa de Corullón through its floral aromas and fresh, juicy fruit adorned with mineral touches of graphite. On the palate it is delicate, reaffirming the fruit that is flavoured with a balsamic freshness and vibrant youth. An elegant red wine with a velvety mid-palate and a pleasant finish.

2018 Pétalos del Bierzo 2018 is an aromatically intense red wine with fruity and floral notes accompanied by mineral nuances. On the palate this red wine is fresh, sweet and intense.
2016 Pétalos del Bierzo has found the fluidity it has been given by the excellent 2016 vintage with a predominant Atlantic climate.  A wine with an aromatic character of violets and red fruits that perfectly combine with a light structure in the mouth. A wine to be introduced to the fantastic region of El Bierzo.
2013 Good acidity, it is intense and rather oily. Very soft and nice.

Cherry red with violet edges. Good intensity.

Powerful and aromatic. Floral notes of jasmine and violet notes of cinnamon and red fruit.
2012 A very expressive Bierzo wine, very flavourful. A good, broad attack, with a long, velvety mid palate. Fresh and intense. Lots of fruit and flowers with tantalizing spiced notes. Good acidity and polished tannins. A long and persistent finish. A great value wine.

Pretty cherry red. Dark, clean and bright, with a violet rim. A fine, slow falling tear.

An elevated intensity nose, with a marked varietal character. Lots of red and ripe dark fruit, accompanied by intense and aromatic floral notes. Once opened, it gains complexity and a surprising minerality as well as mellow and elegant toasted notes. A light undertone reminiscent of shrubs.
2011 An expressive and very tasty wine from Bierzo. Good and wide attack with a long velvety, fresh and intense mid palate. Its abundant notes of fruit at flowers are nuanced by mellow spicy notes. Good acidity and polished tannins. Long and persistent finish. Excellent value (and pleasure) for money.

2010 Very expressive and tasty Bierzo wine, with a good broad and velvety attack and a long, fresh and intense mid palate. Its abundant notes of fruit and flowers are nuanced by mellow hints of sweet spices. It shows a good acidity and polished tannins. It has a good finish with a good and very nice persistence.  A seductive wine.

Deep and dark cherry colour with purple reflections. A wine with a medium-high robe and good tears.

Marked and elegant varietal aromas. Its abundant notes of ripe red and black fruit are released along with intense and aromatic floral notes. When it opens up, the wine becomes more complex and a surprising minerality appears along with soft and elegant toasted and smoked aromas. Its light background shows aromas of bushes and undergrowth.
2009 Good attack. Fresh, very tasty, sweet and intense wine with a silky mid palate. Tannins not completely polished yet and a correct acidity. Long finish with fruity aftertaste.

Intense dark cherry red colour. High layer. Abundant legs that stain the glass.

Very good aromatic intensity, with good toasted aromas slightly marked and light fruity notes. When it opens up, the ripe black fruit gains in intensity and becomes the star along with the milky notes, the subtle floral notes and a pleasant balsamic hints.
2008 In the mouth, we find everything we perceive in the nose: lots of flowers along with fresh blueberries and balsamic notes. The tannins just perceived. Step velvety.
