About Pensées De Lafleur
Pensées De Lafleur is a red wine coupage made with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from AOC Pomerol made by Château Lafleur.
The Château Lafleur winery has been run by the same family since it was bought in 1872 by Henri Greloud, owner of Château le Gay. In 1893, their main wine was considered one of the best in the Pomerol denomination, after the Vieux Château Certan and Petrus. It is worth mentioning that in 1920, Malbec vines were removed and replaced with Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
The Pensées De Lafleur plot has strains with an average age of about 40 years old and they are planted in sand, clay and gravel soils. The vineyard is spread over 0.8 hectares with a planting density of 6,000-7,500 strains per hectare. The grapes are harvested manually to be able to select the grapes in the field and ensure they reach the winery in optimal condition.
Once in the winery, the Pensées De Lafleur vintage ferments in stainless steel tanks at a regulated temperature and is then aged for 15 months in French oak barrels. 25% of the barrels are renewed annually.
Pensées De Lafleur is the second wine made by Château Lafleur and although they do not consider it as such, it is certainly the case as this really is a wine from a single plot.

2012 | Pensées De Lafleur 2012 is a medium-bodied red wine that offers aromas of sweet and ripe blackberries and cherries, it is pleasant and round but also complex. It also reveals notes of spices and herbs as well as earthy touches joined together by a perfect acidity. |
