Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky Peated Edition is a light golden Welsh single malt whisky, combining sweet and aromatic smoke with delicate notes of vanilla, green apple, and fresh citrus. On the palate, it is smooth and sophisticated, with a fruity undertone that meets the smoky wood and a subtle hint of vanilla sponge cake. The medium-intensity finish allows the clean smoke and vanilla to linger with a pleasant warmth. A whisky where the character of Islay appears as an elegant backdrop, allowing the freshness of Penderyn to remain the star.

Penderyn Whisky Peated Edition belongs to the latter category: a Welsh single malt that surprises precisely because its smoky character emerges in an unusual way. Light, fresh, and with that touch of mystery that makes you want to uncover what's behind it.
 
The story begins in Penderyn, amidst the landscape of the Brecon Beacons, where the distillery revived the tradition of producing whisky in Wales. Here, the water springs from a source located next to the distillery and flows through rocks over 340 million years old before reaching the production process. Such a unique environment almost makes it seem logical that a whisky with its own personality would emerge from here, crafted without much desire to resemble any other.
 
And here comes the interesting part: while many whiskies seek their identity in increasingly exotic finishes and casks from distant places, Penderyn looks towards a tradition much closer to home. Its spirit, light and fruity, first matures in bourbon barrels and then receives a finish in ex-peat Islay casks. The smoke thus appears in a more delicate manner, integrated with the freshness of the Welsh whisky rather than overshadowing it. A subtle Scottish nod for a whisky that, above all, wants to remain distinctly Welsh.
