About Palazzo Brunello di Montalcino
Palazzo Brunello di Montalcino is a wood-aged red wine made by the Palazzo winery with the Sangiovese variety in the DOCG Brunello di Montalcino, in Tuscany (Italy).
With a name the same as his wife’s surname, Cosimo Loia acquired the Palazzo estate in 1983. He then began a renovation project, maintaining the original structure of the 18th century Tuscan farmhouse. With total commitment to paying close attention to the entire production cycle, from cultivation in the vineyard to vinification and aging, the Loia-Palazzo family has worked 11 hectares of vineyards since 1986, achieving the perfect expression of the Tuscan wine region.
Palazzo Brunello di Montalcino comes from a 3-hectare vineyard located 320 metres above sea level. The soils have original rock layers, particularly marl, limestone and clay, and the vines are cultivated using only organic fertilisers and pest control agents for organic agriculture. The harvest is carried out manually in boxes and the grapes are selected in the vineyard itself.
In the winery, Palazzo Brunello di Montalcino is vinified in 40/50 Hl stainless steel tanks with a maceration of about 18/20 days at a controlled temperature of 30°C. The wine is then aged for 36 months in 20/25Hl oak barrels before being bottled.
Considered a boutique winery that produces no more than 25,000 bottles annually, Palazzo wines are made with strict family management to preserve the highest quality. Palazzo Brunello di Montalcino is proof of this. A perfect expression of the Sangiovese grape.
2012 | Palazzo Brunello di Montalcino 2012 is a concentrated red wine with an intense and persistent bouquet of ripe red and black fruit with spicy vanilla notes. On the palate it is dry, smooth and harmonious. A delicately tannic wine with a long and elegant finish and an impressively fragrant aftertaste. |
