About Oriol Rossell Brut Rosat Reserva
Marie and Pierre Curie, Laurel and Hardy, Joan the Mad and Philip the Handsome... History has been filled with illustrious and significant duos, yet none can rival the Grenache and Pinot Noir that breathe life into Oriol Rossell Brut Rosat Reserva.
Straight from the D.O. Cava, specifically from the Penedès, comes this sparkling wine from Oriol Rossell, one of the oldest wineries in the region, operational since 1497. Pere Joan Rossel de la Costa was the pioneer in cultivating these lands of the Cal Cassanyes estate, characterized by sandy-loam textures, abundantly rich in clay. Since then, this location has witnessed the perfect blend for crafting both reds and whites, whether still or effervescent, all under the designation of estate wines. And all of them consistently cultivated organically.
All the grapes of Oriol Rossell Brut Rosat Reserva originate from the Pou vineyard, an estate that encircles the family farmhouse and is in close proximity to the winery. Undoubtedly, this factor ensures that the transit from the fields is executed swiftly, guaranteeing that the grapes arrive in the most pristine condition. To ensure this crucial detail, Oriol Rossell Brut Rosat Reserva is harvested using a vibrating trailer and transported in small-capacity crates, where the bunches are preserved from damage. Once at the winery, the grapes of Oriol Rossell Brut Rosat Reserva are placed on a sorting table, where leaves are removed and only the finest clusters are selected. From there, Oriol Rossell Brut Rosat Reserva proceeds to the press, where it undergoes a brief maceration prior to fermentation in stainless steel vats. The bottling and subsequent aging on lees for a minimum of twelve months will be the next phase for Oriol Rossell Brut Rosat Reserva, during which the CO2 from the second fermentation is captured in the bottle, forming its celebrated bubbles.
After the process is complete, the yeast cells will perish, creating the famed lees, which remain in contact with the wine, imparting creaminess, body, and a velvety texture. Following disgorgement and the removal of the lees, Oriol Rossell Brut Rosat Reserva will be ready to be savored and enjoyed. Simply put, sheer enchantment.
