About Narupa Alalá

Albariño, an indigenous variety from Galicia (Spain), was the catalyst for the modern Galician wine revolution and the originator of the Rías Baixas appellation, thus putting its productions on the map of quality wines. To continue extolling Albariños, four friends—the Pedrosa siblings (Rosa and Fran), Ruth Campelo, and Nacho Jiménez—initiated Narupa, a project that involves working with various vineyards, some near the sea and others more inland, in the heart of the Valle del Salnés. With the premise of protecting the environment and meticulously caring for the vines, they manage to express the beauty of the different terroirs and the potential of the albariño grape. They achieve this successfully with Narupa Alalá.

This wine comes from albariño vines planted on siliceous soils, of granitic origin and sandy texture. Sustainable viticulture is practiced with ecological and zero-residue methods. Subsequently, in the winery, the grapes for Narupa Alalá undergo crushing and a short maceration with skins. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks with temperature control, and the wine remains on its lees for 12 months. Finally, before being released to the market, it is aged in the bottle for between a year and a half to two years.

As a result of a small project that is making a very positive impact in Rías Baixas, Narupa Alalá debunks the myth that Albariños are meant to be consumed young. It is a mature, complex, and age-worthy wine, ideal for aficionados of fine white wines.

2016

Narupa Alalá 2016 is a white wine with aromas of ripe stone fruit, notes of orange blossom and hints of sweet spices. On the palate it is fresh, citric and complex. An unctuous wine with marked acidity and a pleasant and light mid-palate. The finish is balanced, long and somewhat saline.
