About Muga Rosado
Muga Rosado is a rosé wine by Bodegas Muga in DO La Rioja. Located in the town of Haro, one of the towns with the highest concentration of wineries in the world, Bodegas Muga is one of the historic cellars of La Rioja.
They began making wine in 1932, when Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño married. Muga Rosado is made from a blend of Garnacha, Tempranillo and Viura, typical varieties of La Rioja, from vineyards planted up to 480 metres above sea level on clay-limestone soils, with a climate marked by Atlantic, Continental and Mediterranean influences.
Once in the winery, the grapes are selected, destemmed and macerated for 12 hours before fermentation takes place in wooden tanks of about 2000 litres for 20-25 days at a controlled temperature of 18 degrees.
Once the fermentation has occurred, Muga Rosado rests for two months with its lees. After this, it is stabilised cold, filtered and bottled, ready to go to market. Muga Rosado is between rosé wine amongst rosés. Each wine vintage after the next delights its fans. And there are many.
2022 | Muga Rosado 2022 is a fruity rosé wine with aromas of red fruit accompanied by citrus notes and floral hints. The palate is elegant, precise and fresh. A flavoursome wine with well-integrated natural acidity, a smooth mid-palate and a lingering, subtly bitter finish. |
2019 | Muga Rosado 2019 is a crisp rosé wine, boasting profound aromas of stone fruit, citrus, and red berries, underscored by a hint of nuts. On the palate, it is silky, light, and exquisitely balanced. This wine features a splendid acidity and a long, pleasant finish. |
2014 | The taste is fresh, sweet and intense. It has a soft step, with good acidity. Memories of citrus. Long and pleasant aftertaste with floral notes. A lovely salmon-pink. Very clean and bright, with good intensity. There is a clean and complex nose. Great prominence of fruit such as cherry, peach, apple, pineapple and peach with light floral aromas. We also find a nice presence of pastries and yeast from working with the lees. |
2013 | An enticing and vibrant entry, replete with an abundance of fruit. The acidity is well-balanced. It concludes with an extended finish of medium persistence, which reawakens floral and fruity scents on the palate. A pale rose hue with steely edges. Immaculate and luminous. Highly intense, marked by red fruit aromas with an underlying toasted and mineral character. |
2012 | Appetising and fresh attack. Agile, smooth and dry on the palate, with a high, aromatic acidity, very well integrated, and a high concentration of fruit. Long finish, medium persitence, releasing floral and fruity aromas at retro-olfaction. Pretty pale salmon colour with steely edges. Very clean and very bright. A clean, honest and direct nose. Intense aromas of fresh and acidic fruit. Red fruit, yellow stone fruit and even tropical fruit (passion fruit, pineapple) mixed with delicate floral aromas. Surprising background with hints of bakery goods and yeast. |
2011 | Very pleasant, fresh and light Rioja rosé wine. It shows a good attack with the aromas felt on the nose which are present from the fist sip. Its aromas are intense and mellow. Soft and dry mid palate, with a very good and balanced acidity. Long finish, which leaves floral and some very ripe fruit aromas. Clean, pale and very bright salmon colour. Almost crystalline. Its intense notes of fresh and acid fruits, including red fruits, some stone fruits such as peaches and some exotic fruit such as passion fruit, are mixed with its delicate floral aromas. Amazing background of wooden notes. |
2010 | Very nice wine with a wide and fresh attack and a soft and dry mid palate. Its notes of fruit are moderate and accurate. It has a good acidity and a very long finish. Very bright and clean pale salmon colour. Its soft aromas of fresh red fruit are displayed on a good background of exotic and stone fruits. Very subtle spicy hints. |
2009 | Appears again in the mouth fresh red fruit, citrus, herbal notes and apple. Good acidity, with a very fresh run, gliceric. Long finish. Intense salmon color, with hints of strawberry. Clean and bright. Highlighted aromas of very fresh red fruit, apple green and a point of citrus. |
