About Mathilde Chapoutier Duché d'Uzès Blanc
The compass is an emblem of exploration and adventure. It symbolizes the yearning to uncover new locales, experiences, and opportunities in life. Moreover, it signifies the importance of maintaining focus on our aspirations and objectives. It reminds us of the necessity to keep a clear direction and to eschew distractions that may lead us astray from our chosen path. It is with this perspective that Mathilde Chapoutier, the 8th generation scion of the esteemed Rhône house of Chapoutier, steps out of her comfort zone to introduce us to a selection of wines born from her travels across diverse viticultural regions around the globe. These wines are fresh, versatile, and easy to enjoy, conceived for savoring life in the finest company.
In her relentless quest for outstanding wines, she presents Mathilde Chapoutier Duché d'Uzès Blanc. This white wine originates from viognier and grenache blanc vines planted on clay-limestone slopes in a location nestled between the cities of Nimes and Alès, within the AOC Duché d'Uzès in the Rhône (France). Traditional methods are employed with the utmost respect for the natural equilibrium of the terroir, and the harvest is conducted at night to minimize oxidation and preserve the grapes' aromatic qualities. Upon arrival at the winery, only the finest grapes are selected and destemmed to begin a pre-fermentative maceration in cold conditions followed by gentle pressing. Subsequently, the extracted juice ferments at low temperatures in stainless steel vats and then matures for 5 months on its fine lees before bottling.
As part of the "Mathilde Chapoutier Sélection" range, Mathilde Chapoutier Duché d'Uzès Blanc marks one of the cardinal points of this talented wine seeker's compass. It stands as an inviting proposition to enter the prestigious Rhône wine region at an exceptionally competitive price.
2021 | Mathilde Chapoutier Duché d'Uzès Blanc 2019 is an aromatic white wine boasting an elegant aromatic complexity with notes of exotic fruits, citrus, and white blossoms underlain by a mineral undertone. On the palate, it is refined, vibrant, and harmonious. A wine characterized by well-integrated acidity, a fruity mid-palate, and a delightful finish accented by a subtle iodine hint. |
