About M. Chapoutier Rasteau

M.Chapoutier Rasteau Les Gadilles is a red wine made from Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, hailing from AOC Rasteau and crafted by Maison Chapoutier in the Rhône.

Michel Chapoutier is a distinguished winemaker from the Rhône. His winery, Maison Chapoutier, was established in 1808 and is among the pioneers of biodynamic practices. It seeks to respect and integrate with natural cycles, thus all its vineyards are cultivated biodynamically or organically.

The vineyard of M.Chapoutier Rasteau Les Gadilles is located a few kilometres from Les Dentelles de Montmirail, a small mountain range in Provence. Its soils are calcareous and marl, composed of sedimentary calcite rock and clays.

The grapes for M.Chapoutier Rasteau Les Gadilles are fully destemmed and macerated for about 15 to 21 days. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is aged in vats for approximately 12-16 months before bottling.

2017 M. Chapoutier Rasteau 2017 has a delicate and intense nose. With notes of fruity aromas, ripe fruit, raspberry, currant and cassis. On the palate we see that it is well structured and that it is generous and pleasant. It has a little residual sugar that give it a smooth attack and a lot of volume in the mouth. It has a little over 5gr of sugar per litre.
