About Louis Latour Côte de Nuits Villages
"Each generation contributes its essence without neglecting the heritage" It is with this principle that Louis Fabrice Latour, the eleventh scion of this venerable family estate, now over two centuries old, has proudly upheld the legacy of one of Burgundy's most esteemed properties. A craftsmanship distinguished by excellence, a review of the estate's lineage reveals that each custodian, including seven named Louis Latour, has contributed their unique touch. With an array of over forty different wines on offer, each era presents its own set of challenges, compelling them to evolve and innovate while steadfastly preserving the values handed down through generations. For the current torchbearer, the formidable challenge of climate change is being met by expanding into cooler, higher-altitude territories, with a promise to continue enchanting wine connoisseurs with their wines' timeless elegance and their dexterity in meeting the demands of the future.
One of their renowned offerings is the Louis Latour Côte de Nuits Villages, a quintessential pinot noir from the prestigious AOC Côte de Nuits-Village / Côte-d'Or that splendidly showcases this French appellation. This red wine, crafted from 30-year-old vines grown on clay-limestone soils with environmental mindfulness, undergoes meticulous selection at the winery. The grapes are carefully destemmed and crushed, initiating fermentation with indigenous yeasts under controlled temperatures. Subsequently, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 10-12 months.
Preserving their independence throughout these two-plus centuries, their Louis Latour Côte de Nuits Villages wine exemplifies the family's philosophy: remaining true to their identity while adeptly navigating the currents of modernity. This charming pinot noir promises a commendable longevity (of 7 to 8 years).
