Can Sumoi La Rosa 2024 is an organic and vegan rosé wine from Penedès, distinguished by its brilliant onion skin colour with salmon-hued edges. On the nose, it presents an original blend of tart red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry, alongside notes of pear, citrus, and lychee, complemented by floral nuances of jasmine and orange blossom water. About Can Sumoi La Rosa

Can Sumoi La Rosa is a rosé wine crafted by Can Sumoi in Montmell, within the Penedès region.

Can Sumoi represents the latest venture into natural wines by Raventós i Blanc.

After departing the D.O. Cava in 2012, they sought the ideal location for producing this type of wine. At Can Sumoi, they discovered the perfect setting: a 400-hectare estate situated at an elevation of 600 metres. It boasts 20 hectares of vineyards with indigenous varieties such as sumoll and xarel·lo, the latter currently undergoing restoration. The estate also features three 18th-century farmhouses and an ancient winery.

Here, Pepe Raventós, oenologist and viticulturist, aims to produce natural wines with a sense of place, capturing the true essence of the land and its landscape. To achieve this, he manages the entire estate biodynamically, crafting his wines by reviving rural traditions and refraining from adding any enological additives.

Can Sumoi La Rosa is a rosé wine made from Sumoll and Xarel·lo grapes grown in vineyards at an altitude of 550 metres, on clay-limestone soils, and trained as bush vines.

Following a manual harvest, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed in an inert atmosphere. They undergo a four-hour maceration with the skins, and fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16°C, using indigenous yeasts from the vineyard. Once alcoholic fermentation concludes, spontaneous malolactic fermentation occurs. The wine is bottled without stabilisation, filtration, or any added enological products.

2022

Can Sumoi La Rosa 2022 is a fruity rosé wine whose aromatic profile is a floral and mineral blend that evokes both delicate pink petals and the freshness of fruit. In addition, it discreetly presents plant nuances and a pleasant salinity. On the palate it is pure, fresh and rounded. A wine whose bitter touches and acidity make it lively and elegant at the same time.

2019 Can Sumoi La Rosa 2019 is a light, delicate and elegant wine. Expressive and refined on the nose, with prevailing ripe red fruit with floral notes. In the mouth, it is amiable and easy to drink, with a final freshness that makes it very long.
2014 On the palate the red and white fruits appear along with fresh floral notes and mineral tones. It has a cool, well-integrated acidity.

Golden colour with pale salmon edges. Clean and bright.

On nose it is elegant. Aromas of cherry, raspberry, melon and fresh Grenadines appear with light rose petals notes.
2012 A fresh wine, light, dry and silky on the palate. Red fruit and herbal notes dominate an enjoyable palate. Good acidity and good persistence.

Pretty and light onion skin colour with salmon coloured reflections, very clean and very bright.

Medium-intensity. A real mixture of aromas - ripe white fruit and and red fruits, especially strawberry, mixed with aromas of cream (reminiscent of drumstick lollipops). Notes of pressed flowers, rose petals, jasmin and a nice, light herbal background, complete a seductive set.
2011 A fresh and very nice wine that seduced us from the first sip. It has a good light, dry and velvety mid palate with notes of juicy fresh and tasty but not cloying fruit. The grassy notes noticed in the nose become more noticeable. A wine with a good acidity and a good persistence.  A very nice, fresh, elegant and at the same time cheerful wine.

Very clean and bright onion skin colour with thin pale salmon reflections.

Fresh aromas with a mix of red fruit aromas and very fresh notes of white fruit. The strawberry aromas stand out. Some delicate hints of jellybeans are also noticed along with elegant notes of rose petals and subtle hints of yeast on a delicate background of freshly cut grass.
2010 A delicious rosé wine but not too sweet. Dry and fresh wine with a fruity and voluminous attack. Balanced acidity. Good and persistent finish. A very nice, friendly and elegant wine, joyful at the same time.

Intense aromas of red fruits, especially ripe strawberries, along with elegant rose petals that provide this wine with refinement and elegance.

2009 Tasty, with excellent balance on the palate and a pleasant finish with hints of confectionary. The step is fruity, juicy and with a volume that makes it really enjoyable.
