- New
Robert Weil, one of Germany’s most prestigious wineries, is known all around the world for their superior Rieslings. With the unmistakable blue label that wraps around their wines, they are the perfect embodiment of a Rheingau Riesling. It is currently run by Wilhelm Weil, great-grandson of the founder of this winery lying in the heart of Kiedrich, and he uses the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) classification model based on grape origin. This Kiedrich Klosterberg Riesling Erste Lage trocken is an “Erste Lage” that is distinguished by its unparalleled ability to express the essence of a superior quality vineyard and made using strict production rules: the quantity of grapes must not be more than 60 hl per hectare, the grapes must be native, they can only be harvested by hand and only traditional production methods can be used.
The name of the wine, Klosterberg, goes back to the old connecting road between Eberbach Abbey and Kiedrich. An access road leading directly to the mountain vineyard where Kiedrich Klosterberg Riesling Erste Lage trocken starts life. A famous Riesling vineyard with steep slopes of coloured slate, phyllite and gneiss soils that is carefully harvested. In the winery, the grapes are gently pressed following the principle of verticality and the must is racked into stainless steel tanks. There, it ferments for 6 to 12 weeks at a controlled temperature. Finally, this white wine remains in stainless steel tanks on lees to balance out.
Kiedrich Klosterberg Riesling Erste Lage trocken is presented as a superior quality Riesling. A great dry white wine from Rheingau that is complex, elegant and full of minerality.
