Itsasmendi 7 is a white wine from the DO. Bizkaio Txakolina produced by the Itsasmendi winery. This wine is a blend of 3 different varieties, Hondarrabi zuri Zerratie (65%), Riesling (18%) y Hondarrabi Zuri (17%).
The grapes used for Itsasmendi 7 are taken from 7 different plots (as hinted by the name) owned by the winery, which together span across 27 hectares. The vineyards are relatively young at 15 years old, although some of the vines are a little older at 20 – 25 years old. The soils are mainly limestone and sandy and have great variety of textures and depths.
The harvest and various phases of the winemaking process are carried out using traditional methods, drawing on the years of experience that the winery’s team has in the industry. Itsasmendi 7 finally ages, before being bottles, for 9 months (although this can vary depending on the vintage) in stainless steel tanks on its lees.
The Itsasmendi winery was founded back in 1995. Spanning over 27 hectares, most of which grow on mountain slopes near the Bay of Biscay. It is possibly the most important winery in the region.
