About Oxer Iraun

Iraun is a white wine crafted in the DOC La Rioja by Oxer Belastegi in Laguardia, Alava.

Oxer Bastegieta is a vigneron who began producing Txakoli at the family winery in Kortezubi, a small town in Biscay near the Urdaibai natural park. He moved to Rioja to pursue a master's degree in viticulture and oenology and became enamoured with the landscapes of the Rioja Alavesa. He settled in Laguardia in 2009 and started exploring the local vineyards to begin crafting wines in the region.

Iraun is his single-vineyard white wine sourced from the same estate as Artillero and is composed of the Viura variety. The vineyard is planted on clay-limestone soil with very low yields of about 1300 Kg per hectare and is cultivated organically.

Iraun is entirely produced in new 500-litre French oak barrels, where it ferments and matures for 10 months.

It is a white wine with remarkable aromatic complexity that evolves exceptionally well over the years.
