About Intipalka Syrah
The Ica Valley is not merely an arid region with fertile lands; it also stands as a witness to the Peruvian pisco revolution and the commendable work of certain viticultural families who have elevated the region's wines. Such is the case for the Queirolo family, Italian immigrants who arrived in Peru in 1877 and established an impressive winemaking empire, offering a wide range of high-quality wines. Under the name Intipalka, which translates to 'valley of the sun' in the Inca language, they have crafted a series of varietal wines that encapsulate the vigor, character, and finesse of one of the most splendid terroirs on the globe.
Within this collection, Intipalka Syrah is a wine crafted from the syrah grape, sourced from vineyards planted in deep, loamy soil at an elevation of 500 meters above sea level. The region is noted for its extreme microclimatic variation between day and night, making it ideal for agriculture. The desert conditions necessitate the implementation of drip irrigation techniques. Once the grapes reach their optimal ripeness, they are harvested and hand-selected, then transported to the winery in 15 kg crates. Subsequently, at the winery, vinification begins in 500-hectoliter stainless steel tanks equipped with cooling systems and continues for 3 months to enhance the wine's fruity freshness.
With a special commendation from the jury at the International Wine Challenge 2021, Intipalka Syrah stands out for the purity of its fruit and the distinctiveness of the desert soils from which it hails. A new generation wine born at the foothills of the Andes, it is celebrated for its youthfulness, breadth, and freshness.
2021 | Intipalka Syrah 2021 is a supple red wine redolent with the scent of ripe raspberries, interlaced with sweet spices and subtle meaty undertones. On the palate, it presents as fruit-forward, delightful, and well-composed. This medium-bodied wine boasts pronounced acidity, robust tannins, and an enduring, satisfying finish. |
