Characteristics Il Conventino Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva
It’s no coincidence that the name Sangiovese (the most widely planted grape in Italy) comes from the Latin term "Sanguis Jovis" (Jupiter's blood). And this variety is very powerful, just like the god of heaven and thunder. Thick-skinned, very acidic and highly tannic, it creates the great wines of Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, and the very famous Tuscans. It’s also the protagonist of some great denominations that aren’t as well known. This is the case for an area surrounding the town of Montepulciano that belongs to the DOCG Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. This is a great Tuscan wine which, although in modern times it has fallen into the shadow of the nearby Brunello di Montalcino, is by no means a minor player.
An example of this quality can be found in Il Conventino Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva, a wine made by Il Conventino, a winery acquired in 2003 by the Pino brothers, Duccio and Alessandro Brin, lawyers by profession and passionate about wine, who followed their dream of producing a great wine. And they’ve succeeded. Made mainly with Sangiovese grapes and accompanied by small portions of Canaiolo, Mammolo and Colorino, they’re grown organically and harvested by hand. Once in the winery, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 30 months.
The result is Il Conventino Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva, a wine with deep and millenary roots attested by the strength of a variety, the Sangiovese, with a power worthy of the gods.

Tasting notes Il Conventino Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva
Il Conventino Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva 2016 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of blue flowers, notes of ripe fruit and undergrowth and hints of spices. On the palate it’s firm, sweet and enveloping. A wine with great freshness and fullness, taut, fine-grained tannins and a long, lingering finish.
