About Guelbenzu Vierlas

Guelbenzu Vierlas is a red wine blend of Merlot and Syrah varieties produced by Bodegas Guelbenzu as the table wine, Ribera del Queiles, in Zaragoza, Spain.

The grapes used to make Guelbenzu Vierlas come from the La Lombana estate in Vierlas, which has soils composed of gravel and sand and where vines with an average age of 20 years grow. The bunches ferment for about 12 days in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures and the resulting wine is aged for six months in barrels, where 30% are French oak and 70% American oak.

Thanks to Bodegas Guelbenzu, the initiative to create the table wine denomination for Tierra Ribera del Queiles, started in 2003, was consolidated. Guelbenzu Vierlas offers us the perfect introduction to wines which come into being south of the Ebro River, between Aragón, Navarra and Rioja, a 22-kilometer stretch of land caressed by the Cierzo winds which offers wines with body, character and ageing capacity.

2012
2009 Very tasty and expressive wine, with a fresh, dry, soft and fleshy mid palate. The notes of fruit become juicy and creamy and the floral notes are still highly noticeable. Good acidity and soft, well integrated tannins. Very nice finish.

Intense, bright cherry red colour with violet reflections. Wine with a high robe and thin tears.

Great aromatic set. Despite the great number of grape varieties used in its elaboration, this wine shows intense, pleasant and well balanced aromas. Its abundant notes of red fruit with very fragrant flower notes are mixed with a wide range of spices (sweet and exotic spices). These notes are wrapped in creamy, milky and soft toasted aromas.
2007 Tasty, fresh and light wine with a silky and fleshy mid palate full of juicy and creamy notes of fruit. Good acidity and well integrated tannins. Long finish with a hint of astringency which leaves final roasted aromas. A very expressive and harmonious set.

Intense and dark cherry red colour with violet edges. Thin tears.

Intense and very pleasant well balanced aromas. The mineral notes give way to lots of red fruit mixed with floral notes, spices, milky touches and soft toasted aromas.
2006 This wine is expressive in the palate and has a soft, velvety, fruity and fresh mid palate. Well balanced, integrated tannins and a long aftertaste that leaves aromas of roasted coffee.

Intense cherry colour. Brilliant wine with slight tear.

The nose is intense. The red fruit aromas at the beginning give way to floral notes mixed with touches of milk.
2005 The palate is soft and velvety, fresh, fruity and balanced with a nice sensual and persistence. Very good entry on the palate and long and fruity aftertaste.

Cerise purple.

The nose is intense, fresh, clean with red fruits and violets, very attractive with a well-integrated wood background.
