About Grans-Fassian Mineralschiefer Trocken

Grans-Fassian Mineralschiefer Trocken is a single-variety Riesling white wine produced by the Grans-Fassian winery, in the Mosel Valley, Germany.

The Grans-Fassian winery is located in Leiwen, one of Germany’s oldest wine regions, and has been run by the Grans family for four centuries. The winery is currently run by the thirteenth generation and still holds onto the idea that using the best plots is the most important starting point for producing world-class wines.

The grapes used to make the Grans-Fassian Mineralschiefer Trocken wine come from vineyards with predominantly mineral slate soils. They ferment for eight weeks in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures ranging from 15º to 18º. The wine ages with its fine lees for two months before being bottled.

The Grans-Fassian winery focusses on producing high-class wines, with their own personality, bottles that encapsulate landscape and feeling.
2016 Grans-Fassian Mineralschiefer Trocken 2016 is a white wine that presents citrus aromas and intense fruity notes of green apples, apricots and peaches as well as a subtle and characteristic mineral note. On the palate it is dry with a fresh acidity and the fruit and minerality returning on the mid-palate. It has a long finish and persistent aftertaste.
