About Giuseppe Mascarello Langhe Nebbiolo
In the south of Alba, in southeastern Piedmont, lying on the right bank of the Tanaro River lies the D.O.C. Langhe. This is where the Mascarello family has been making wines since Maurizico Mascarello bought a plot of land in the Pian della Polvere region in 1881.
Now, more than half a century later, Giuseppe Mascarello and Figlio are still producing wines. One of these wines is the Giuseppe Mascarello Langhe Nebbiolo.
Giuseppe Mascarello Langhe Nebbiolo is a red wine made with grapes grown in the Perno vineyard (on the Santo Stego hill, in Monforte Alba) and in Castiglione Falletto. Working in the vineyard, this family are still using traditional practices, like pruning in winter (which are usually very short, with only 6 and 9 buds), removing any clusters in poor condition, thinning the grapes in summer (which makes it easier for the plant to grow) and harvesting and selecting the grapes by hand.
In the winery, Giuseppe Mascarello Langhe Nebbiolo ferments for 15-20 days and ages for 6 to 8 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
Giuseppe Mascarello Langhe Nebbiolo is living history of Italian wine. It is the most traditional Piedmont wine.
2018 | Giuseppe Mascarello Langhe Nebbiolo 2018 is a concentrated, 100% Nebbiolo red. On the nose, it is fruity, intense and typical of the variety. On the palate it is dry, round, full-bodied and tannic. |
