About Gaja Sito Moresco
Gaja Sito Moresco is a red wine coupage of the Nebbiolo, Barbera and Merlot varieties produced by the Gaja winery, in the DOCG Barbaresco, in Piedmont, Italy.
The grapes used to make the Gaja Sito Moresco wine are selected and harvested manually and at the optimum point of ripeness. When the bunches reach the winery, they are destemmed and gently pressed. The varieties ferment separately in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Following malolactic fermentation, the coupage is made. The resulting wine rests for at least twelve months in stainless steel tanks. After that, the wine is bottled and continues to age in the winery for a few months before being released for sale.
The Gaja winery dates back to 1859 and is a symbol of viticulture in the heart of Langhe, in Piedmont. After four generations of work, this family has an important place on the international wine scene thanks to their extraordinary productions with a focus on quality.
The Gaja Sito Moresco wine combines the complexity and longevity of the Nebbiolo grape with the pleasant acidity of the Barbera. The Merlot grape gives body and harmony to this excellent Piedmont red, a gateway to the unique wines produced by Angelo Gaja that are so highly sought after around the world.
| 2016 | Gaja Sito Moresco 2016 is a red wine that offers fruity aromas on the nose of wild red and black fruits as well as herbaceous, vegetable and violet notes. On the palate it is fine and harmonious, with subtle tannins, a silky mid-palate and an elegant and round finish. | |
