Etienne Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Quartz

Tasting notes Etienne Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Quartz 2022
White wine Aged in wood Biodynamic, Natural and Vegan. 12 meses en barricas de roble.
Etienne Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Quartz 2022 is an exquisitely delicate and highly complex white wine. On the nose, it reveals hints of cucumber, celery, and capers, accompanied by nuances of nuts and white peach. On the palate, it is fresh and easy to drink, with remarkable persistence and a creamy profile. While it is enjoyable when young, decanting is recommended, and it shows aging potential for up to a decade.

About Etienne Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Quartz
“In my wines, I only have grapes”. With this mission statement, Claude Courtois has emerged as a pioneer of natural wines in France. This purist and radical approach has earned him a prominent place in viticulture, advocating a return to the most authentic and traditional roots of wine. His philosophy has been an inspiration to many in the wine world, so it is not surprising that his successor, his son Etienne Courtois, continues with the same spirit and talent. Both Claude and Etienne work in perfect harmony, sharing the vision of creating wines that reflect the true character of the terroir without additives or unnecessary manipulations. Located 35 km from Blois, in Sologne, in the Loire (France), it is a farm surrounded by forest, animals, and nature. A genuine garden that, through minimal intervention practices, achieves extremely pure, mineral, and authentic wines under the brand Les Cailloux du Paradis.
With the new generation underway, wines like this Etienne Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Quartz demonstrate their working philosophy. A white wine made from sauvignon blanc and menu pineau varieties sourced from old vines planted in soil rich in sand and quartz (hence the wine's name). In the vineyard, biodynamic treatments are practiced, and harvesting is done manually at the optimal moment of ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are selected, destemmed, and gently pressed. The resulting must ferments spontaneously with native yeasts in small used oak barrels, with a short maceration. Afterwards, the wine matures for 18 months in these same containers.
Transformed into a true sanctuary of natural winemaking, where each bottle is an expression of the landscape and the life philosophy of the Courtois family, Etienne Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Quartz offers us a unique experience. A genuine sip that reflects the true character of the terroir.
