About Dr. Loosen Gray Slate

Dr. Loosen Grey Slate is a single-varietal white wine made from Riesling, produced by Dr. Loosen and classified as a VDP from Mosel-Saar-Ruwer.

Dr. Loosen is one of the world's premier Riesling producers. The Loosen family, who still own the winery, have been dedicated to viticulture for over 200 years. Ernst Loosen was the latest family member to join the business in 1988. The winery boasts vineyards over 60 years old, planted on their own roots, and produces approximately 70,000 bottles annually, making it one of the largest producers in the Mosel.

The vineyards for Dr. Loosen Grey Slate feature grey slate soils on terraces and undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve and enhance the fresh, fruity aromas of the grape.

Dr. Loosen Grey Slate is a classic-tasting Riesling with a well-structured profile, offering aromas of pineapple, white peach, and green apple over a crisp, acidic finish.

2024

Dr. Loosen Gray Slate 2024 is a white wine with an enticing straw hue, embellished with green highlights that suggest freshness. When brought to the nose, it is effervescent, awakening your senses with aromas of lemon, peach, and subtle hints of pineapple that evoke warm summer days. On the palate, it is light yet lively, filling the mouth with fruity freshness that, alongside a sparkling acidity, makes it irresistible. 
2020

Dr. Loosen Gray Slate 2020 is a white wine with intense aromas of white fruits like pear and citrus fruits like grapefruit and lemon on the nose. The palate is crisp and well balanced with perfect acidity, a little residual sugar and a low alcohol content, which makes it a most refreshing and irresistible white wine.
2018 Dr. Loosen Grey Slate 2018 has a golden yellow colour, with a nose that reveals notes of citrus fruit and a mineral touch. Peach and citrus appear in the mouth. On the palate it displays a good acidity that balances the light sensation of final sweetness.
